How to sort data based on chart selections?

Unfortunately, sorting data directly based on chart selections in Excel isn't possible. Charts are visualizations of your data, and sorting the underlying data won't necessarily change the chart itself (though it might change the order of the data points).

Here are two alternative approaches to achieve a similar outcome:

1. Sort the Data Table and Refresh the Chart:

* Sort your data table based on the criteria you want reflected in the chart (e.g., sort by sales amount).
* Once the data is sorted, right-click anywhere on the chart and select "Select Data."
* In the "Select Data Source" window, ensure the "Series values" range reflects the sorted data in your table. Click "OK" to update the chart.

2. Use Chart Filters (if available for your chart type):

* Some chart types (like PivotCharts or interactive charts) offer built-in filtering functionalities. Explore your chart's options to see if it has filter capabilities.
* By applying filters within the chart itself, you can achieve a similar effect of focusing on specific data points.

Additional Tips:

* Consider creating a separate chart based on a sorted version of your data table. This can be a good option if you need to frequently view the data in a particular sorted order.
* Remember, sorting the data table itself doesn't affect the underlying raw data. It only changes the order of how it's presented.
