How to manage and edit named ranges in Excel?

Excel's Name Manager is your one-stop shop for managing and editing named ranges. Here's how you can use it:

1. Access Name Manager:

- Go to the Formulas tab on the Excel ribbon.
- In the Defined Names group, click Name Manager.

2. View Existing Named Ranges:

- The Name Manager dialog box will appear, displaying a list of all currently defined named ranges in your workbook.
- Each named range will show its Name (what you called it) and its Refers to (the cell range or formula it represents).

3. Create a New Named Range:

- Click New.
- In the Name box, enter a clear and descriptive name for your range (avoid spaces, use underscores instead).
- In the Refers to box, you have two options:
- Select the range directly: Click in the box and then highlight the desired cell range on your worksheet.
- Enter a formula: Type the formula that defines the range (e.g., =A1:A10).
- Click OK to create the named range.

4. Edit an Existing Named Range:

- Select the named range you want to edit from the list.
- Click Edit.
- You can modify the Name or the Refers to box as needed.
- Scope: The Scope (workbook or sheet level) cannot be changed through the Edit window.
- Click OK to save the changes to your named range.

5. Delete a Named Range:

- Select the named range you want to delete from the list.
- Click Delete.
- A confirmation dialog will appear. Click OK to permanently delete the named range.

Tips:

* Use meaningful names that reflect the purpose of the range for better organization.
* Avoid using cell references in your names, as it can limit flexibility if you need to move your data.
* Named ranges can be used in formulas throughout your workbook, making them powerful tools for maintaining consistency and reducing errors.
